After a search and rescue operation, missing fishermen are found in Sapulut Forest.

KOTA KINABALU – Two men who were feared missing two days after entering the Sapulut Forest near Sook, were found safe and sound on Thursday (6th June).

According to reports, the victims, Baranti Binukut@ Siem and Jerome Alan Ansibin (both 23 years old) entered the forest to go fishing.

Riki Mohan Ramday, assistant chief of the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department’s operations centre, said that a team consisting of four people, led by Faisal Ahmed, had been dispatched after a distress call was received at 8.45am.

He stated that they arrived on the scene at about 11.5am, 114km away from the station.

Search and Rescue operation will be conducted with the help of other agencies including 11 policemen, 5 from Malaysian Civil Defence, and 25 forest personnel.

Riki Mohan said, “The two victims found on the roadside were handed over to the police by forestry staff at 3.45pm for further action.”

He said that the operation ended at 3.50pm.
