Ampang teenager arrested for robbing foreigners with machete

KUALA LUMPUR – A teenage delivery driver, suspected to be part a robbery gang here, was arrested on suspicion of robbing the mobile phones and money of two foreign workers.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Ismail stated that the robbery took place along Jalan Pandan Jaya around 2.30pm, Monday (June 3, 2016).

Four men, including one with a machete, approached the victims who are plumbers.

The thieves took their mobile phones and about RM1,000 cash.

“At 9:10pm, on June 5, we arrested a delivery rider aged 19 along the same street.

A motorcycle, helmet, and machete have been seized in order to assist with investigations.

He said that “checks revealed the suspect’s criminal record has three criminal offenses and four drug-related crimes on it”, on Friday (7th June).

The group is suspected of targeting foreigners.

He said that efforts to find the other suspects were ongoing.
