Bomb hoax: police record statements from witnesses and minister

PUTRAJAYA – Police have recorded the statements of several people, including Tourism, Arts and Culture minister Datuk Seri Tong King Sing, in order to aid investigations into a recent hoax bomb threat.

The incident at the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry Building is still being investigated, according to ACP A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz, chief of Putrajaya Police.

“So far the minister’s statement and that of several witnesses has been recorded. He said that efforts to find the suspect were ongoing in a Friday (7th June) statement.

Police confirmed earlier that a package addressed to Tiong on Wednesday, allegedly containing an explosive device, was a hoax.

A. Asmadi stated that the package was received at 11.19am, and sent via a delivery service to Sungai Buloh. It contained a PVC tube and a timer resembling a explosive.
