Dr Mahathir mourns the loss of loyal assistant

PETALING JAYA – Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad expressed his sorrow over the death of Ismail Manaf, his loyal assistant and friend. He died on Wednesday (5th June).

“I’m saddened today by the loss of a friend and an assistant who was with me in the 1970s, when I served as deputy prime minister.

In a Facebook post, Dr Mahathir said: “Today Ismail didn’t wait for me. I felt his absence and loss.”

Ismail was described as a person of exceptional character who never missed a day’s work nor acted carelessly.

“He did not do his job just to get a paycheck, but he believed in what he was doing.

“I met him on June 4 and he told me he wasn’t well. I didn’t expect it to be our final meeting. “Every living thing must be killed,” said Dr Mahathir.
