Expected to be 2.5 million vehicles on major highways during Aidiladha

KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Highway Authority expects that the number of vehicles on the North-South Expressway as well as the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway, East Coast Expressway 1 and LPT2 will increase to 2,52 million during the Aidiladha festival which takes place Monday (17th June).

In a statement released on Saturday (15 June), it said that highway concessionaires had been ordered to cease construction and maintenance activities involving lane closings as of last Wednesday, until 19th June. This was to minimize the impact of increased traffic.

LLM added that all highways, including the R&R area, laybys, and toll collection systems are working well. Additional temporary lanes have been provided.

The report stated that the concessionaires were also required to increase their staff, provide more parking and portable toilets in several R&Rs and fuel stations and activate smart lanes.

To plan their trip, those who are planning to travel by highway can consult the MyPLUS-TTA app by PLUS Berhad to travel along the North-South Expressway or the Travel Time Proposal by Anih Berhad to travel along the KL-Karak Expressway Phase 1 and the East Coast Expressway Phase 1.

The official Facebook page of the Malaysian Highway Authority, or @llmtrafik or @llmtrafik in X or Tiktok are the best places to get information about highway traffic and incidents.

“They can also contact the Traffic Management Center, LLM on the hotline 1-800-88-7752 and to obtain information on current traffic conditions through CCTV displays on all highways, users can visit the LLM website at http://www.llm.gov.my,” it added.
