Fadhlina, Fadhlina: Education Ministry wants full report of crash in Rompin involving teachers

Education Minister Fadhlina sidek said that the Education Ministry wants a complete report on an accident involving a teacher bus and a trailer truck on Jalan Kuantan-Segamat, near Bahau Junction early this morning.

She stated that her ministry was taking all necessary measures to get a full investigation and determine the cause of this incident. In addition, she said, they were also concerned about the well-being of the teachers and their families, including some who are currently in hospital for treatment.

She told reporters that the incident was very saddening. “On behalf the ministry, we convey our condolences and sadness to the families of teachers involved,” she said after officiating at the Kelab Media Mutiara Pulau pinang’s Family Day, held in a water park in Bertam on Sunday (9 June).

In the crash between a bus, a trailer truck, and two teachers, three people were killed and 36 injured.

According to DSP Nor Azman Yusof of the Rompin District Police, the bus carried teachers and their children from SK Jeram Masjid Tanah in Melaka to Terengganu for a benchmarking program.

Fahdlina also said that the Ministry will send counselors to the school in order to provide psychosocial assistance to students and teachers.

Fadhlina had earlier expressed her condolences in a post on Facebook to the families Hasnatul Adila Hasan, the teacher who was killed, and the second driver of the bus.

“I pray for all of the injured teachers to recover quickly and to return to their normal activities to fulfill the trust they have as educators in the nation. She said that several teachers who were involved in the accident received treatment at the intensive-care unit for serious injuries.
