Fahmi: National Day and Malaysia Day Celebrations show a multi-racial Malaysia

PUTRAJAYA – This year’s National Day celebration theme – Malaysia Madani : Jiwa Merdeka – is a symbol for the holistic integration of Malaysians of all races, according to Communications Minister.

Fahmi Fadzil said the Cabinet had also agreed to keep the logo of the celebration, which depicts the words “Malaysia Madani”.

Malaysia Madani, the core of Malaysia’s progress and prosperity is supported by six core values.

He said that “Jiwa Merdeka” expresses the freedom of the people from negative elements when interpreting patriotic spirit in terms of aspects of thinking, economic and social integration, and then creating a strong and harmonious unity between the people, and progress.”

Fahmi is the main committee chairman of the National Day 2024 celebration and the Malaysia Day 2024 celebration. He said this during the launch ceremony for the theme and logo for the National Day 2024 celebration and Malaysia Day 2024 at his ministry.

The committee, he said, has planned a variety of events that will further enhance the celebrations across the country.

The launching of National Month and Kibar Jalur Gemilang will take place on 13th July.

The ceremony will serve as the beginning of the countdown to the big celebration that will take place in Putrajaya, on August 31.

He said that the momentum would continue on September 16th in Sabah with the celebrations of Malaysia Day.

Fahmi said that during the National Month, a convoy of vehicles, Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang will travel across the country with activities designed to promote patriotism.

He also added that details about other programmes to coincide with the National Month would be available on an official website, www.merdeka360.my.

He also encouraged all Malaysians, to take part in “Inisiatif 1 rumah, 1 Jalur Gemilang” where he encouraged waving the national flag.

He added, “Decorate the houses you live in with the flag which represents our identity globally.”

Dataran Putrajaya hosted the National Day celebration 2023 last year.

Last year, the National Day celebration was themed “Malaysia Madani – Tekad Perpaduan penuhi Harapan” and involved 17,262 participants. There were also 36 brass bands and 534 land, air and ground assets.
