From midnight June 10, diesel will cost RM3.35 a litre.

Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, a senior government official in PUTRAJAYA, said that the diesel prices will be lowered to RM3,35 per litre nationwide starting at midnight on Monday (10th June).

The Finance Minister II stated that the price was based on the Automatic Pricing Mechanism Formula for the month May.

Diesel was previously priced at RM2.15 a litre, as announced on 5 June.

In announcing fuel subsidy rationalisation, Datuk Seri Ibrahim announced that subsidies for diesel will be removed for “the wealthy and foreigners” on May 21.

He said that the diesel subsidy would be first rationalised on the peninsula, and then implemented in Sabah and Sarawak.

Anwar stated that subsidies will be maintained for diesel-powered commercial trucks and public transportation to prevent a drastic rise in the price of goods and services.

Subsidised diesel control system (SKDS) will cover 23 types of goods transport vehicles and 10 types of public transportation vehicles including buses, taxis, and other vehicles.

Diesel subsidies will continue to be available for certain categories fishermen.

Anwar also added that cash assistance would be given to individuals who are eligible and own diesel-powered private vehicles, including small traders, farmers, and others.
