German companies urged to take advantage of the China Import Expo

STUTTGART (Germany), June 5, (Xinhua) – Business leaders and officials from China and Germany highlighted the 7th China International Import Expo as a gateway to the Chinese Market on Wednesday. The expo, which has 75 German companies signed up already, offers significant opportunities for collaboration and trade.

At an Expo promotion event in Stuttgart, participants urged German companies to engage actively and take advantage of the opportunities. Around 150 Chinese and German business representatives and trade delegates attended the event.

Wu Zhengping noted that the preparations for the seventh CIIE are well underway. German companies are the leaders in Europe for both number of exhibitors as well as exhibition space. 75 companies have signed up to attend the event and occupy over 26,000 sqm at the venue.

During the event the China International Import Expo Bureau and the Academy of German Hidden Champions signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The collaboration aims at facilitating the entry of specialized German companies into the Chinese market via the CIIE.

Zhai Qian of the Chinese Embassy’s Economic and Commercial Affairs Department highlighted that German companies consistently participate in the CIIE and have large booth sizes, contributing to its diversity.

He expressed his hope that German companies would fully utilize the CIIE Platform, showcasing Germany’s strengths in traditional industries such as mechanical manufacture, automotive and pharmaceuticals.

Zhai urged German companies to explore opportunities for collaboration with Chinese counterparts in areas such as technological innovation, green initiatives and circular economy. He noted that this collaborative effort would promote new economic growth and bring Sino-German relations to a higher level.

Walter Doring is the chairman of The Academy of German Hidden Champions. He highlighted China’s impressive achievements in innovation and development, opening up new opportunities for Germany.

Approximately 500 of the leading German companies on the global market have partnerships with China. Doring stressed that China collaboration is essential for any company aiming to achieve leadership on the global market.

The CIIE was established in 2017 as a forum for companies to explore opportunities in China, and promote economic prosperity. The 7th CIIE will be held in Shanghai from Nov. 5-10 2024.
