Immigration arrests 87 foreigners without documentation at Seremban building site

SEREMBAN – Kennith Aik-Kiang, the state chief of Immigration Department in Sereban, said that 87 foreigners without documents were detained at a construction site for affordable housing.

He said that 90 foreigners had been screened by the Department and the State Islamic Affairs Department during the raid carried out jointly on Wednesday.

Some of the foreigners between 23 and55 years old tried to flee but were caught.

He said that they would be taken to the Immigration depot at Lenggeng until we were done with our investigations.

Tan stated that the 87 people detained included 52 Indonesians including 14 women and 35 Bangladeshis.

He said that preliminary investigations showed the foreigners violated several provisions of the Immigration laws.

He said that the department had also sent two notices to both the employer and the caretaker to help with the investigation.

He also thanked the members of public who alerted his department to the presence of undocumented immigrants.

He added: “Immigration wants to remind employers, the public and anyone who harbors undocumented aliens that action may be taken against them.”
