In a raid on a warehouse in Shah Alam, sex toys valued at RM2mil were seized.

The Royal Malaysian Customs Department seized sex toys totaling millions of ringgits in a raid at a warehouse near Shah Alam.

Norlela Ismail, assistant director-general of Customs Central Zone, said that during the raid on May 20, 11,220 sex toys valued at RM2,04mil were seized.

This is the largest haul of this kind in 2018. She said that a similar raid last year only saw RM50,000 worth of items seized.

She added that a warehouse manager in his sixties was arrested for helping with the investigation, and has now been released on bail.

The warehouse was found to have been operating for over three years, and contained items other than sex toys.

Norlela said that it was believed the items were intended for online and in-store sales.

According to sources, the toys could have been imported here using false import declarations.

The department also conducted 40 raids in the Klang Valley between May 13 and 24, aimed at illegal alcohol and cigarettes.

The total amount of unpaid duty and alcohol seized was RM474,267.

Norlela stated that the Department arrested 16 people aged between 30-60 to help with the investigation.
