In Niah in Sarawak, an elderly man is found burned to death in a car

SIBU: A man aged over 60 was found dead in a burning car near an oil palm plantation at Suai in Niah (90km south of Miri) on Friday evening, June 14.

The spokesperson for the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s operations centre confirmed that the deceased was Chen Kian Seong (63), from Bandar Baru Permyjaya in Miri.

He said that the department received an emergency call at 11.05pm and a Batu Niah Fire and Rescue Station team was sent to the scene.

The incident involved a Proton Aeroback, which was destroyed by fire. It had been put out before the fire brigade got there. The team discovered the victim’s burned body on the driver’s side of the car, he stated in a Saturday (15th June) statement.

He said that firefighters helped remove the charred remains of the vehicle. The police were then contacted to take further action.
