JKM will seek temporary custody today of Zayn’s younger brother

KUALA LUMPUR – The Social Welfare Department is going to apply for the temporary custody of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin’s brother on Friday, June 14, at the Shah Alam Magistrate’s Court.

Director of Selangor Social Welfare Department Azmir Kassim stated that the department will also take time to find a guardian, or an individual who is qualified and suitable to care for the child.

By today (June 14), we will have the court’s temporary order to bring the child in for a checkup. We will ask the court for some time, perhaps a month, to find a suitable guardian for the child.

“As a young child, Zayn Rayyan (the younger brother of Zayn) is confused. He doesn’t understand the situation. He said that so far, the child is fine. We’ve taken him to a hospital first for a check-up.

Zayn Rayyan’s parents, Zaim Ikhwan Zahari, and Ismanira Abd Manaf, have pleaded no-guilt at the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court on charges of child abuse.

The charges were filed under Section 31(1) (a) of Child Act 2001. This is punishable by Section 31(1) and Section 34, both of which allow a maximum fine up to RM50,000, or a maximum of 20 years imprisonment, if found guilt.

Zayn Raymond was reported missing on the morning of December 5, 2023. He had been found dead near his apartment in Idaman Apartments in Damansara Damai.
