Kota Laksamana offers free swimming lessons to children who are less fortunate.

Kota Melaka MP: Around 40 children from families with low income have registered for free swimming classes at Kota Laksamana.

He said that the classes are offered to children in order to raise awareness of safety through swimming lessons, especially for those who live in flood-prone regions.

Khoo added that the classes build children’s self-confidence.

Hannah Yeoh, Minister of Youth and Sport, launched the initiative earlier this year. The project aimed to benefit 1,600 B40 children between the ages of three and twelve.

In March, Yeoh told the media that the initiative will be implemented all year long in states with a high death rate due to drowning.
