Local official: British TV presenter Mosley was found dead on the Greek island of Symi

ATHENS, Greece (Reuters) – British TV presenter Michael Mosley, a healthy living advocate and a British TV host from the UK, was found dead in Symi on the Greek Island of Symi on Sunday.

Mosley, aged 67, has been missing since last Wednesday, when he took a solo walk along a coastal pathway in sweltering heat.

The police spokeswoman Constantina Dimoglidou said earlier that the body believed to be Mosley was found in the vicinity of Agia marina, but that an identification process was still pending.

Nikitas grillis, deputy mayor of the city of Agia marina said that the mayor of the island was filming in the area when he and a journalist from the state TV ERT spotted a body. It is definitely him,” said deputy mayor Nikitas Grillis.

A second police official confirmed that the body was discovered on rocky terrain near the sea. This contradicted earlier reports that he had been found in a cavern. The police were investigating the scene.

Mosley was last seen alive on Wednesday at 1030 GMT, 1:30 pm.

The search began after he disappeared while walking along a rocky path that connected Agios Nikolaos Beach to the village of Pedi.
