Lorry driver accused of murdering wife

KLANG – In the Magistrate’s Court, a lorry driver charged with murdering his wife. She was found last week with slash marks on her neck, right hand and wrist.

S. Suria Raj (31), nodded to indicate that he understood the charges against him after they were read before Magistrate Siti Zubaidah Mahat.

The High Court has jurisdiction over murder cases.

A. Kirshashini (28), was found dead in his bedroom at an apartment located in Jalan Botanik, Bandar Palma between 6:30am and 7am, on the morning of June 7, 2018.

If convicted, the charge falls under Section 302 (Penal Code), which provides for the death penalty, or up to 40-years imprisonment and 12 strokes with a cane if the person is not sentenced to die.

Nurul Jannah, Deputy Public Prosecutor, appeared on behalf of the prosecution. The accused was not represented.

The court set a date of Sept. 3 for the re-mention of the case and the submission of reports on deoxyribonucleic acids (DNA) as well as mental health tests.

Media reported earlier that South Klang OCPD Cha Hoong Fong stated that the victim had been found on the bed, with slash marks on his neck and right arm. The suspect was also arrested the same day.
