MACC denies that lawyers were harassed

PETALING JAYA – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has denied allegations that it harassed two attorneys.

Azam Baki, the chief commissioner of the MACC ( pic), denied the accusations and accused the two men during a previous press conference on Tuesday (June 11, according to reports).

After being brought in to be questioned, lawyer Lai Chee Hoe said that he had been detained at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya for three days between June 4 and 6.

He claimed that he had not been given a reason for his detention, and was instructed to stop representing his clients in a dispute over a strata-title.

Lawyers for Liberty claimed in the same press conference that Irwin Lo was also interrogated by MACC about the same client.
