Pavilion Bukit Jalil is crowned the world’s top retail centre in 2024

KUALA LUMPUR – Pavilion Bukit Jalil is the iconic retail and lifestyle destination in this city. It has been honoured with the World Gold Winner award for the retail category of the FIABCI World Prix D’Excellence Awards.

The recent award presentation in Singapore marked an important milestone for Pavilion REIT and Malaysia’s retail sector.

The FIABCI World Prix D’Excellence Awards are renowned for their rigorous evaluation process, international prestige and the recognition of outstanding real estate projects which embody excellence in development, design and sustainability.

The FIABCI International judging panel, which comprises over 60 judges from more than 35 countries, has named Pavilion Bukit Jalil as the World’s Best Retail Center.

The mall, dubbed Icon of Connectivity, hosted a celebration which included multi-cultural performances by a global delegation of international FIABCI leaders, from North America Europe Africa and Malaysia.

Dr Yu Kee Su was also present at the event, along with FIABCI USA President Carla Kidd and FIABCI Italia President Luca Bigliardi, as well as FIABCI Malaysia President Datuk Firdaus Musa.

Pavilion Group’s executive chairman Puan Sir Cindy Lim and members of Pavilion REIT board of directors hosted the FIABCI World celebrations.

The mall was highlighted as a global shopping destination and a must-visit for international tourists.

Patrick Liau Kong Voon, Pavilion REIT’s deputy chief executive officer, said at the event: “The award is testament to Pavilion Bukit Jalil’s commitment to excellence and setting gold standard in the retail industry.”

The mall has a total area of 1.8mil sqft spread over five floors. It offers an immersive mix of retail experiences, dining options, dynamic entertainment and lifestyle offerings.

Liau stated that “the strategic acquisition of Pavilion Bukit Jalil was a significant addition in our portfolio. It reflects our commitment to invest in high-quality assets which meet the changing needs of consumers.”

The mall will be occupied by over 90% of its capacity by 2024. This shows the confidence and resilience of retailers who want to set up shop in this award-winning shopping center.

The acquisition of Pavilion Bukit Jalil is a good decision. It adds another award-winning retail project to our portfolio. Pavilion Kuala Lumpur won gold at the FIABCI World Prix D’Excellence Awards 2009.

He said, “We are committed to excellence and continue to acquire high-quality retail developments that are well-managed, beautifully designed, and have won awards”.

He said that Pavilion Bukit Jalil tenants can expect to perform better, now that occupancy is stable. This will allow the retail team to concentrate on improving the customer experience and evolving the retail mix.

Pavilion Bukit Jalil’s commitment to sustainability, and creating meaningful spaces for community members played a key role in winning over the judges. This has led to positive and multiplicative effects for the immediate area and the surrounding areas.

Liau attributes Pavilion Bukit Jalil’s success to its size, location, growing neighbourhood catchment, and international events that are hosted by the mall.

He thanked Pavilion REIT supporters and gave credit to the Qatar Investment Authority (one of the leading investment authorities in the world) for being a partner and long-term investor in Pavilion REIT’s vision.

He said: “We will continue leveraging our strengths and resources to implement strategic actions. We will work with our stakeholders to promote Malaysia’s retail industry in the global stage.”

In the next few weeks, Pavilion Bukit Jalil is launching a series of highly interactive campaigns to reward and engage its loyal customers.
