Penampang warehouse found to have over 4,000 litres diesel

KOTA KINABALU – The General Operations Force seized more than 4,000 litres suspected of misappropriated diesel during an operation near here in Penampang.

After receiving a tip on Thursday (6 June), the GOF team raided an unmarked warehouse in Kampung Kibabaig.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry Sabah was immediately alerted.

Georgie Abas, director of the Sabah Domestic Trade Ministry, said that his men found diesel in six modified intermediate-bulk container tanks when they reached the site.

In a Friday (7 June) statement, he stated that the tanks inside a truck contained 4,400 litres diesel.

He said that the seized goods, which included the lorry, a pumping machine and other items, totaled RM58.860.

He said that a local 52-year old man was also arrested and questioned during the raid.

Abas stated that the case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act of 1961, for the keeping of controlled items without a licence.

He said that the ministry will continue to work closely together with other enforcement agencies in order to reduce the misappropriation subsidised goods.

He urged the public as well to share any information that might be helpful.
