Prime Minister performs Aidiladha prayer at Putra Mosque

PUTRAJAYA – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim led the Aidiladha prayer with over 20,000 people at Putra Mosque on Monday (17th June).

The Prime Minister wore a light blue baju Melayu, and he arrived at 7.52am with his wife Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

The grounds of the Putra Mosque were filled by thousands of people, including tourists from abroad who came to witness the atmosphere created by the Aidiladha prayer.

Anwar then performed the Aidiladha prayer led by Salahuddin Ghozali, the Grand Imam at the Putra Mosque.

Salahuddin, the Prime Minister’s aide, also attended the Aidiladha Sermon entitled “Aidiladha And Our Social Care” delivered by Salahuddin.

The sermon touched upon the prescribed worship for the celebration of Aidiladha.

“By performing the sacrificial ritual, a part of the offering will be given away to other Muslims. This teaches the importance of showing care for others and the act of giving charity.

Salahuddin said, “We must also increase our concern for our Palestinian brothers.”

Anwar spent some time with the congregation before leaving.
