Released on bail, the director of a government department in a graft case

KOTA BHARU – The Kelantan Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has released on bail the director of a government department who had been remanded in custody to assist with a bribery investigation.

Rosli Husain, the state MACC director, confirmed the matter Sunday (9 June) and said that 58-year old director, who had been remanded in custody to assist with the investigation of a case involving the solicitation and acceptance of bribes totaling hundreds of thousands ringgits, was released after posting bail of RM20,000 and two sureties.

He stated that the suspect had been investigated previously under Sections 16(a) and 17(a), of the MACC Act 2009

Media reports said that the man arrested on 6 June was suspected of soliciting money as an incentive to approve contracts for clients of the department.
