Remand of a government department director over allegations of bribery

KOTA BHARU – A government department head has been remanded in custody for two days starting Thursday (6th June) to help with investigations into allegations that he solicited and accepted bribes totaling hundreds of thousands ringgit.

Magistrate Rais Imran Hamid issued the remand on the 58 year old man.

The man arrived at the court earlier, at 8:20am, in an anti-corruption vehicle of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

Director of Kelantan MACC Rosli Husain has confirmed the arrest and detention of the person.

He said that the case would be investigated in accordance with Sections 16(a) and 17(a), of the MACC Act 2009.

The media reported on Wednesday (5 June) that the director had been suspected of accepting bribes to approve contract works for clients in the department.

He was arrested at the Kelantan MACC on June 6th evening after recording a statement about the case.
