Sarawak river finds body of elderly woman

SARIKEI – The body of a woman who had been missing since Thursday, was discovered on the banks Sungai Baron on Sunday. This is only 29 kilometers away.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre spokesperson said that the body of Lenya, 62, had been discovered by a team of search and rescue workers at 10:35am. This was approximately 100 metres away from where Lenya was reported as missing.

The second team found the body of the victim floating on the riverbank, unclothed, as they walked along the river to the last location known for the victim.

According to the police report the victim’s disappearance only became apparent when her brother realized she wasn’t at home last Thursday at 1pm.

He checked the area where she would bathe at a stream that was in front of Rumah Tury, but could not find her.

The initial search with the villager led to the discovery 100 meters away from the bathing area of a bucket painted white, along with soap and clothing belonging to the victim.
