Seven-day detention for an enforcement officer in a power abuse investigation

SEREMBAN: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has obtained a seven-day detention order against alleged abuser of power.

On Wednesday, June 5, Magistrate Fairuz Syuhada Amran granted the MACC permission to hold the suspect in his 30s until Friday, June 11.

The suspect is under investigation for allegedly inducing transport companies to hire his company as a consultant.

According to reports, his company offers courses and training as well as helping transport companies apply for commercial licenses.

The officer is suspected to have committed the crimes between 2020 and last.

Sources claim that the suspect was arrested at 9pm Tuesday, June 4, when he appeared at the MACC state office to be questioned.

The arrest was confirmed by the state MACC director Awgkok Awgkok Taufik putra Awg Awg Ismail.

The suspect has been investigated under Section 23 MACC Act 2009
