Star Education Fair 2024 attracted universities from all over the country eager to display study programmes

GEORGETOWN – The Star Education Fair has once again been a beacon for opportunity. It attracts not only students who are looking to continue their education, but also colleges and university eager to display the best learning experiences.

The fair, held at the Setia Spice Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur, offers an array of educational opportunities, with a variety of institutions and course offerings that cater to a range of academic interests and career goals.

The Penang branch of Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology, a leading management university in the State, was one of the many exhibitors at the fair.

Lim Thean Pheng, the deputy branch director, said that TAR UMT offers a wide range of courses including Business Management, Accounting, Finance, Investment, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronic Engineering, Built Environment, and Creative Industries such as Public Relations and Broadcast Communication.

Our extensive diploma and foundation programs are available to school leavers who just recently received their SPM results.

The lecturer in management and IT said that the university offers attractive credit transfer options to diploma graduates who wish to continue their degree programme.

He added that the university offers additional modules for students to improve their skills outside the classroom.

Sentral College Penang invites SPM-qualified students to explore its core programs. This includes the prestigious ACCA Program, which has been awarded platinum status by the college since 2013.

The college’s director of marketing, Johnny Goh, said that the 3+0 and 2-plus-0 twinning program allows students to complete their studies in Penang.

He said: “Join our open day this Sunday, 16th June, from 9am-5pm, where parents and students can participate in various activities including profiling, which helps students to determine their study interest, wellness checks, and blood pressure measurement by a renowned hospital.”

The One Academy, a renowned college of art and design, offers several courses for prospective students.

Khoo BOO KEAT, the head of business development at The One Academy said that students can choose from five main courses.

He said that the courses include advertising, graphic design digital media design interior design and illustration, and digital animation.

Khoo said that the academy will be moving to a brand new campus in Strait Quay.

He said that students who enroll in The One Academy will receive a high-quality learning experience.

UPTM, another exhibitor, offers a variety of interesting programmes from the foundation level to the post-graduate level.

The Institute of Graduate Studies Dean, Assoc Prof. Dr Adam Shukry Ali, said: “We also offer scholarships to those who are eligible.”

The first graduates of ViTrox College, a new technical college in its second year of operation, are expected in 2025.

Chong Swit Yie, the head of marketing at the college, said that it offers diplomas in business, computer science and engineering. The college places a special emphasis on practical knowledge alongside theoretical learning.

Our diploma programs are certified by Malaysian Qualifications Agency. They include mechatronics and electrical and electronic engineering as well as computer science and business studies.

She added, “We offer merit scholarships for academic achievement and provide free vegetarian lunches.”

She stated that students with a grade point average of at least 3.0 are eligible to work for the company, and the college maintains partnerships with local industries in order to facilitate job placements.

Segi College Penang is also promoting their programs in early childhood, business, engineering and IT.

Benedict Tan, the head of Student Experience at College, said that courses are available for degrees, diplomas, and certificates.

Campus promotions will take place throughout June with Exploration Day, Discovery Day, and other events at weekends. Students can make an appointment to visit the campus.

He said that students can get rebates up to RM5,000 on diploma registrations and will be able to experience hands-on learning, including mock hotel rooms.
