The King and Queen of Malaysia are awarded the highest federal honours

KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk seri Anwar Ibrahim presented the highest Federal Awards to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah at Istana Negara, on Wednesday (5 June).

According to a Facebook post by Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, the King received the Darjah Yang Maha Utama Kerabat Diraja Malaysia(DKM) while the Queen received the Darjah Utama Seri Mahkota negara (DMN).

The DKM title is an award given by the federal government to Malay rulers who are appointed as Yang di-Pertuan AGONG. The DMN is awarded to the Raja Permaisuri, the Malay rulers ascending to their respective state thrones and distinguished individuals.

The ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Datuk Seri Faddillah Yusof and Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat. Also present were Chief Secretary of the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali.

Other attendees included Attorney-General Datuk Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh; Public Service Director-General Datuk Seri Datuk Ahmad Dahlan Ab Aziz; Chief of Defence Forces Tan Sri Mohammad Ab Rahman; Inspector-General Tan Sri Razarudin Husain; Senior Deputy Secretary-General of the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Awang Alik Jeman and Keeper the Rulers’ Seal Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad.
