The poet-actor Pyan Habib has died at the age of 66

KUALA LUMPUR – Mohd. Supyan Abd. Rahman, also known as Pyan Habib, died in his Hulu Kelang home on Tuesday evening (4 June). He was 66.

His wife announced his death on Facebook.

You knew that my husband Pyanhabib was gone. He has returned to the Creator. She posted: “Forgive his mistakes and please pray for him.”

When contacted by Bernama about Pyanhabib, Associate Prof Dr Mohamad Salih Rahamad said that he had received a phone call from friends after 9pm.

He claimed that Pyanhabib had been scheduled to read poetry during the recent Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2024 (PBAKL), but was unable to attend due to illness.

He has been feeling unwell since he returned from Umrah in 2011. “He was very thin, had lost his appetite and his movement was quite limited,” said Mohamad Saleeh.

Pyanhabib, born in Taiping, Perak, on May 27, 1958 was also well-known for his acting. He appeared in films such as Kembara Seniman Jalanan (The Seniman Jalanan), Tsu -Feh Sofiah (The Tsu Feh Sofiah), Tak Kisahlah Beb, and Rock Oo.
