The Ukrainian military has shot down 48 drones and five missiles fired by Russia

KYIV (Reuters) – The Ukrainian air force destroyed all five missiles, and 48 of 53 drones in nine regions during Russia’s overnight attack on Friday.

According to the governor, Russian forces used drones and Kh-101/Kh-556 missiles to attack the Kyiv Region, causing an industrial fire. The fire was put out by emergency services on Friday morning. No injuries were reported.

Oleh Syniehubov, the governor of Kharkiv Region, said that the drone attack damaged a number of local infrastructures, including a store, a post-office, and at least three residential structures.

The governor confirmed that three drones were destroyed in the Dnipropetrovsk Region. Kirovohrad Governor said that the attack did not cause any damage to his region, after the military reported shooting down a drone. Khmelnytskyi Governor also reported that there was no damage in his region, stating that the air force had shot down 11 targets above it.

The Ukrainian military reported that seven drones had been shot down in the southern Odesa Region, with another three in Kherson and two in Mykolaiv.

Mykola Kolysnyk, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Energy, said on national TV that the attack had not damaged any energy infrastructure.

In a series of coordinated attacks, Russia has targeted the Ukrainian energy infrastructure in a way that has caused damage to its power generation capability and caused widespread power outages across the country.
