Third victim of a rompin bus-trailer accident has been identified

According to the police, one more person has died from his injuries after the early morning accident between a truck and a bus on Jalan Kuantan-Segamat, near the Bahau Junction, on Sunday, June 9. This brings the total death toll up to three.

DSP Nor Azman Yusof, the chief of Rompin District Police, said that Hamzah Ahmed, 60, a retired teacher, was being treated at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan.

He said that two victims had been killed earlier – Mohd Hasan, the driver of the second bus, and Hasnatul Adilah Hassan a 48-year-old teacher – but the driver of the trailer escaped without injury.

In the incident at 1am, a bus with 39 passengers, two of whom were drivers, lost control and hit a lorry loaded with iron coils. The lorry then overturned.

Nor Azman stated that the bus was transporting teachers and their children from Sekolah Kebangsaan Jeram Masjid Tnah in Melaka to Terengganu for a benchmarking program.

The 36 other injured victims were treated at Muadzam Shah Hospital and Rompin Hospital.

Bernama’s check revealed that the family members of Mohd Adi, Hasnatul Adilah and others were present at the scene before going to the Forensic Unit of Muadzam Shah Hospital for the management of the remains of the victims.
