Tourism suspends the umrah license of tour agencies until December 31

PUTRAJAYA – The Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry suspended the license of Umrah Travel Operator Pasadana Travel & Tours Sdn. Bhd. from April 20, 2024 to December 31, 2024.

The Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry announced the suspension in a press release on Tuesday, June 11. It was based on Subsections 8(1)b) and 8(1)d) of Tourism Industry Act 1992.

The ministry stated that the company was not allowed to conduct any new business during the suspension period, including advertising new umrah packages and recruiting new pilgrims.

The company will refund all payments and documents for those cancelling their Umrah travel arrangements.

The statement read: “If the company does not comply with these conditions, it may have its license revoked. Renewal will also be denied.”

The paragraph 8(1)(b), if applicable, refers to any licensed tourism operator who violates any conditions of their licence, the provisions of this Act, or other written laws. This includes violations that are not prosecuted.

The subsection 8(1)(d), relates to the conduct of business that is detrimental to the interests or national economy, tourism, and the public.
