Tun Mohd. Ali is sworn-in as Melaka’s Yang Dipertua negeri for a second term

MELAKA – Tun Mohd. Ali Rustam, Melaka’s Yang Dipertua negeri for a second term, took the oath on Tuesday (4 June).

At the Balai Istiadat Kompleks Seri Negeri, Melaka High court judge Datuk Anselandis Fernandis, and Datuk Salleh who is the state financial officer, witnessed the event.

Also present were Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh and his wife Datin Seri Zuriyah Ab Aziz, State Assembly Speaker Datuk Ibrahim Durum, Melaka High Court Judge Mohd Radzi Abdul Hamid, and Kuala Lumpur High Court Judge Datuk Seri Mohd Firuz Jaffril.

Mohd. Ali received the instrument of appointment on May 28, from His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim King of Malaysia, at Istana Negara Kuala Lumpur.

Mohd Khalil Yaakob, who was previously the Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob, has been replaced by Mohd Alif Ali, 75.

The term of his reappointment will be four years.

He has a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia. He was the Batu Berendam Member of Parliament from 1995 to 1998 and the ninth Melaka chief minister from 1999 to 2013.
