Two dead, 37 injured after bus-lorry crash in Rompin

ROMPIN – Two people were killed and 37 others injured in a crash involving a trailer truck and a bus on Jalan Kuantan – Segamat near the Bahau Junction early Friday morning (9 June).

DSP Nor Azman Yusof, district police chief, said that the bus carrying 39 passengers, including two drivers, lost control and hit a lorry loaded with iron coils. The bus then overturned in the road around 1.30am.

He said that the bus carried teachers and their children from Sekolah Kebangsaan Jeram Masjid, Melaka to Terengganu for a benchmarking program.

He said that one teacher died at the scene, and the other driver, whose identity is still unknown, died while on his way to hospital.

He told reporters on the scene that initial investigations revealed the accident was caused by the bus driver losing control, colliding with a trailer truck and then overturning onto the roadside slope.
