Zayn’s parents have a new lawyer.

PETALING JAYA – The family of six-year old Zayn Rahyan Abdul Matiin, who was murdered in his home on April 6, has appointed a lawyer to represent the parents. They are currently being held by police.

Fahmi M. Moin, an attorney at Fahmi Moin & Associates, confirmed he was retained as of Monday (June 3, 2009).

Fahmi told The Star that when contacted on Tuesday, June 4, he was “officially appointed yesterday” and would be representing his client at the conclusion of the remand proceedings this Friday (7th).

The previous lawyer who represented the parents of ZaynRayyan withdrew earlier from the case for unspecified reason.

The couple were remanded in custody for seven days starting Saturday, June 1, to help the police with their investigation of murder under Section 302 (Penal Code).

Zayn Rayyan’s parents were arrested in Puncak alam, around 11am, on Friday May 31.

Zayn Rayyan, who was reported missing on Dec 5 in Damansara Damai was found dead near a stream 200m away from his apartment at Idaman Apartment.

The post-mortem showed injuries on his neck and body. This led to the conclusion that this man was killed.

During the investigation police forensic teams searched the area where the body had been found, as well as surrounding areas of Damansara Damai.

Also, 228 DNA samples were collected for a mass screening.

Investigators also brought in witnesses, including those who claimed that they had last seen the autistic boy alive.
